Understanding your water report

The Board of Directors of Westlake Municipal Utility District (MUD) would like to inform you about your Consumer Confidence Reports (CCR). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandates that all community water systems provide a Consumer Confidence Report, also known as an annual drinking water quality report, to their customers. These reports offer important information about the quality of your local drinking water. Your water supplier is required to submit this report annually by July 1.

What Information Is Included in the Report?

The CCR includes the following details:

  • Source of Drinking Water: Information about the lake, river, aquifer, or other sources used for your drinking water.
  • Risk of Contamination: A summary of the potential risks of contamination to your local water source.
  • Regulated Contaminants: A list of regulated contaminants detected in your drinking water.
  • Health Effects: Potential health effects if any contaminant is detected that violates EPA health standards.
  • Restoration Actions: An overview of the actions taken by the system to restore safe drinking water if needed.
  • Cryptosporidium Warning: An educational statement for vulnerable populations on how to avoid Cryptosporidium.
  • Contaminant Education: Educational information on nitrates, arsenic, or lead for areas where these contaminants may be a concern.
  • Contact Information: Phone numbers for additional resources, including the water system, and the EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.

The data included in the CCR is provided by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Ensuring Safe Drinking Water

Water naturally contains various minerals, compounds, and elements, as it is a universal solvent. Westlake MUD, as a public water system, is committed to ensuring that the water produced is safe for human consumption. We strictly adhere to all local, state, and federal water quality standards.

Testing and Transparency

The water is regularly tested to ensure its safety. In addition to daily tests conducted by Inframark, independent third-party laboratories also sample and test the water to guarantee transparency, accuracy, and accountability.
